Revealing look at Knight's influence at Oregon
Posted by Bob Condotta
In case you missed it, the Oregonian published a good series Sunday detailing the influence of Phil Knight on the Oregon athletic program. You can find the main piece here, as well as links to other stories in the series.
Here also is a column from John Canzano taking administrators at Oregon to task for allowing the relationship to become, in his words, "unhealthy.'' He also says that despite all that money and facilities, he doesn't see the Ducks able to compete for top three finishes in the major sports on a consistent basis.
Certainly, the broader issue here, one all universities grapple with to different degrees, is what is too much in the quest for athletic success? No easy answers to that one.
