Bad weather and a rained-out Little League game mean a little more time to spend perusing the net today than I imagined. So figured I'd pass along a few of the items I found that may be of interest:
--- NFL teams are holding mini-camps this weekend with rookies in attendance. You can follow our Seahawks blog here for news on former UW receivers Anthony Russo and Corey Williams. Russo signed a deal as an undrafted free agent and Williams is with the team this weekend as one of six players getting a tryout. He is not on the official roster. Unfortunately, as our blog points out, both players appear to be injured and not practicing with the team today, though I don't see anything yet on what their injuries are.
--- Unfortunately, doesn't sound like Marcel Reece is off to the best start in his attempt to make the Dolphins, according to this from the Palm Beach Post's Dolphins blog. The report says Reece dropped one pass in his hands from former Michigan QB Chad Henne and was slow to get under a couple of long throws that could have been big plays. He did, however, apparently make a good play on a kickoff drill. The Sun-Sentinel Dolphins blog posits that one or two of the five free agent WRs the team signed will at least make Miami's practice squad. But this reporter says he thinks one of them will be Hawaii's Davone Bess.
--- Here's a little story on Greyson Gunheim and his attempt to make the Raiders as a free agent. Got to like the fact that it sounds as if it was a former Washington State Cougar --- Keith Millard, now a line coach for the Raiders --- who helped convince Gunheim to sign with Oakland.
--- Casey Tyler of Edmonds-Woodway never played a down for the Huskies, quitting the team early in camp in 2004. But he ended up resuming his career at Portland State and signed with the Patriots this week as an undrafted free agent.
All for now.
