UW associate AD headed to Utah State
Posted by Bob Condotta
Scott Barnes, who has been UW's senior associate athletic director for advancement since Aug. 5, 2005, is headed to Utah State, where he will take over as athletic director.
At UW, Barnes was responsible for all external relations for the athletic department with a specific emphasis on fundraising. He came to UW from Eastern Washington where he was athletic director for six years. Barnes was lured to UW by former Husky AD Todd Turner, who resigned under pressure in December.
This now gives UW two significant openings in its athletic department as it is also searching for a replacement for Turner. Scott Woodward is serving as interim athletic director and a search committee has been formed to fill the job permanently. Woodward said again this week he has yet to decide if he will apply. Here's a story we published earlier this week on Woodward and the UW AD search.
