Longtime Husky assistant Corrigan passes away

Sad news out of Montlake today as it was learned that former Husky assistant coach Myles Corrigan died Sunday of heart and kidney troubles. He had turned 64 earlier this month.
Corrigan worked with the UW football program for 14 years as a graduate assistant, tight ends coach and director of football operations.
He was tight ends coach from 1987-93 before suffering a dissected aorta during the 1993 game at Cal, which forced his retirement from coaching. He then served as director of football operations for the rest of the Jim Lambright era. He first came to UW as a graduate assistant under Don James in 1986 after having been an assistant at the University of Puget Sound.
Corrigan had been a high school and college coach for more than 15 years when he accepted the GA position, a job he sought after failing to become head coach at UPS.
"He was a good man,'' James said Monday. "You could see as a GA that he was more than a GA. He had the experience and he could coach. He had a real good temperament with the kids and was a good recruiter. He did a good job for us.''
Among the notable players Corrigan coached at UW were Aaron Pierce, Mark Bruener and Ernie Conwell.

Corrigan had recently announced that he planned to work next fall as offensive coordinator at Life Christian High School in Tacoma where his son, Todd, was recently named head coach.
A service honoring Corrigan will be held March 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Life Center.
