Rankin, Reece invited to Texas vs. Nation game
Posted by Bob Condotta
There haven't been any Huskies playing in college all-star games so far, but that will change as Louis Rankin and Marcel Reece have each been invited to play in the Texas vs. The Nation game Feb. 2 in El Paso, Texas. The game will be televised on CSTV at 2 p.m. Seattle time.
The coaches are big-timers --- Gene Stallings for the Texas team and Buddy Ryan for the nation.

hey onewoodwacher...you should be congratulating Reece & Rankin, they busted their butt while they were Dawgs. It's not their fault the coaches couldn't coach them up 'til it was too late. Both of these guys will be playing on Sundays, you watch. Rankin is learning to run harder and he has the elusiveness and break away speed NFLers are looking for...returner perhaps or a RB in the passing situations. Look for Reece to be a tight end or a slot back who'll take on smaller and slower safeties/DBs or even slower LBs.

They should ask Buddy Ryan if he'll coach our defense in 08 while they're there...

You guys need to play like Santa Claus; "He's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty or nice." Just make a mental list of posters to skip.

This blog has become such a parody of anything remotely intelligent regarding UW Football. It truly is embarassing.
It's sad to see the same idiots, day in and day out, who clearly have an agenda against UW Football come here and spew whatever, regardless of accuracy, to fit said agenda. Why let facts get in the way...right? What is this, FOX News, or Limbaugh, or Hannity, or O'Reilly? Any blowhard who will say whatever or makeup whatever in an attempt to fulfill an intellectually lacking agenda...unfortunately this site has it's share.
Onewoodwanker and MellowDuck...especially today...congrats for dumbing this place down to the point that I've officially crossed it off the list of credible places to find accurate info. Congratulations on displaying the short-sided, narrow-minded, unintelligent trends that we find in society today.
Congrats to you too, Bob, on linking a story without checking the facts for yourself. Do you NOT have any contacts at UW to confirm if Roussel received a written offer or not?? Have you been shunned from the football program? Just didn't feel like making the effort?
I loved this blog during the season...what a shame.

To Rankin, Reece and Husky Nation-
Sorry for taking today's aggravation (Bob's post concerning Roussel) out on Rankin and Reece. You're right, they played hard and deserved more than what I said to them.
Rankin and Reece; Sincerely - thank you for your commitment and effort to our beloved UW.
P.S. I'll be watching your game in Texas.

Your comments on Fox News etc. shows your stupidity! Outside of Limbaugh, who is a blowhard, Fox News is the only place you can go to get objective points of view regarding both sides of an issue. Your a perfect example of a mindless left wing Liberal who cannot think for themselves and spouts the party line. G look into the mirror and then slap yourself!
On Rankin and Reece, they played hard every time they where on the field. I think people forget that most of these guy's play as hard as they can, but the UW has had a low talent level recently. So when they go up against other Pac-Ten schools they seem to not be playing hard or trying hard enough. The truth is that they just are not that good of players. Well, not at the D-1 level that is. There's no shame in that, they stepped up and tried. Who knows, maybe they will get a shot playing on Sunday's. I say good for them!

Wow, the Texas vs. Nation game. That's the cockiest game I've ever heard of. I hope Texas gets slaughtered. Congrats to Reece and Rankin.

I'll only post one last non-sport comment ever:
If Fox News was such an embarrassment, why do they dominate ALL the cable news networks. (Look it up yourself using any cable ratings site you choose.) Looks like someone knows what they are doing. Keep your head in the sand HG.
GO DAWGS!

OK, here we go.
Fox News gets ratings because the confused, fearful and insecure need validation and lap it up.
A majority of people in this country once proudly supported overt racism and sexism. Never meant it was right.
We evolve one person at a time. Well, most of us anyway.
And yes, there are confused, fearful and insecure on the far left too. But they tend to work it out a little more honestly. Like leftys KNOW they're engaging in deviant sexual rites (Clinton), rightys DENY it even to themselves. (Craig).

For Bob or anyone else who can answer these questions. In 2007 the Huskies signed 25 highschool kids. Imeka didn't qualify and Fouch enrolled early. So does that mean that we can have 2 players this year enroll early and count against last years player count? If so when do the student/athletes have to enroll by to count against last years number? Can the Huskies sign 27 players out of highschool this year? Slightly confused about the system....

Rankin had a hell of a season. Top 5 all time in terms of yards. He matured as a back as the season went on and was a threat to score almost everyone time he touched the ball. Once he got used to that fact that the O-line would be opening holes for him (for the first time in four years) I think we got to see the type of back Rankin could have been all along.
Rankin and Reece are some of the best playmakers we have had since Arnold and Williams. I think Rankin was a solid Pac-10 back who should get a look at an NFL squad (Alexis is still in the league after all), and I hope he can catch on and continue to develop as a back.
Simply put, Rankin is a fun guy to watch in the open field.
While I doubt he would get the chance, to seem him take one to the house in this Texas v. Nation game would be sweet.
Hopefully Brandon Johnson works just as hard in the off-season as Rankin was reported to this year, if so, our running game should be just fine.

I think Reece is going to shock some people at the combine. People won't quite know who he is but his ability to jump up and get the ball will definitely be noticed.

onewood, I like some of your posts, but sometimes you just post some stupid crap.
Reece and Rankin gave it their all for UW. They've earned their stripes, and I think you are a piece of trash for dogging them.

Again-I apologize for spewing, it was uncharacteristic. I hope my actions are forgiven. If you look up a couple of posts you'll see that I apologized to Rankin and Reece as well. Again-I'm sorry for what I said.

Disgusted,
Here is your quote, but with some revisions to fit he Typology mold (changes are in caps):
"It's sad to see the same idiots, day in and day out, who clearly have an agenda FOR TYRONE WILLINGHAM come here and spew whatever, regardless of accuracy, to fit said agenda"
It's fun to play the word-changing game, isn't it? If you don't like the discussion, go start your own website where you can praise Willingham day in and day out. Blog comment sections on this page are places where people are allowed to praise Willingham, critique Willingham, talk about recruiting, critique Bob's work, or what have you.
Sorry this doesn't fit the Amish blog for which you're clearly searching. I forgot that just because I'm more outspoken on my critique of the current coaching staff that it clearly makes me a bad Husky fan.
Get over yourself.

Who cares about this Bob? Rakin's mold kinda set, way too late by the way, he was liquid jello for the previous 3 years and Reece forgot his hands when he moved from Calif. Bye Bye guys!
