The campaign of Randy Dorn, the leading candidate to unseat Superintendent of Public Instruction, Terry Bergeson, responds to campaign finance charges made by the incumbent. This race is one to watch, if only to keep abreast of the evolving facts.

City Hall's altered state

Here I go again in my column today: The Seattle City Council and Mayor Greg Nickels relentlessly hit Seattle residents with a slew of cost increases. First, the council and mayor rally behind a trio of November ballot measures for parks, the Pike Place Market and Sound Transit buses and light rail. Then they get to work on a plan to raise solid waste and water rates by significant amounts over the next few years. Where does it end? Citizens need to get angry and vocal.
