The bird in the Girdwood cage

Ted Stevens' Girdwood, Alaska, chalet.

Alaskans have been watching their inner-sanctum politicial club unravel under four years of federal investigation. The indictment of Sen. Ted Stevens for what appears to be neglecting to declare contributions to his Girdwood, Alaska, "chalet" could cost the Republicans another seat in November, and it could, if accepted by average Alaskan voters, be a good thing for the state, like spring break-up it could mean a state with a fresh beginning.
