Would Rossi have signed flood relief bill?

Posted by David Postman

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi has criticized Gov. Chris Gregoire's plans for flood control projects in Lewis and other southwest counties hit by last year's floods. But as Brad Shannon writes at his Olympian blog, it is not clear what Rossi would have done with the flood bill signed by the governor.

His spokeswoman Jill Strait declined to say which way Rossi would have gone today, and Rossi was unavailable to comment himself — because his schedule didn’t allow. He was “tied up,” Strait said by telephone.

...

“He believes the final bill is better than what was originally proposed. The compromise to give $2.5 million to local groups was good but not enough,’’ Strait said.

Shannon points out that Rossi has called for more leadership on flood recovery issues.

But when asked if that meant he would favor more state spending on the problem, Strait refused to say. She also refused to say if more local spending was needed.

He just thinks the parties need to focus on what is the “best option” to reduce flood threats in the whole basin, Strait said.

First of all, what kind of coward is this Dino guy that he always sends Jill to issue non-responses on his behalf.
The fact is Dino has no plan, did nothing while in office to move toward any solution and is out of step even with his fellow GOP legislators who represent the area.
In a tight budgetary year the progress lead by Governor Gregoire represents bold leadership and sets a clear example that she will never let decades of failed policies by Republican City, County and locally elected legislators soften her commitment to bring relief to the citizens of that area.
Sure Rossi is "tied up". They have him gagged and tied up under his desk at Rossi headquarters so he will not spout off about anything else when he has NOTHING to contribute.

I get tired of Mr. Rossi always complaining about what someone with a "D" behind their name does. How about proposing some solutions to our problems? Complaining about someone else's actions instead of not proposing solutions of your own is a sure fire way to NOT get my vote.

Did Strait refuse to say or respectfully decline?

Was it a flood relief bill or a voter patronage bill?

What would Jesus do? We have a whole book of options there. What would Dino do? No comment--he's tied up...

This is not to cast aspersions, but does anyone else see the striking resemblance of Dino to the sketch of D. B. Cooper?

No fair asking Rossi what he would do! Doesn't everyone know that he only explains how he wouldn't do what Gregoire did?

I'm beginning to think that Rossi's entire plan as governor would be to call up Gregoire every day, ask her what her plans are, and then not do whatever it is she's planning on doing. Okay, so he wouldn't know what he'd ACTUALLY do, but he'd sure as heck would know what he wouldn't be doing!

This is so tiring, why can't he give the guy a break?!

Gee, what great reporting, the Olympian couldn't interview Rossi, so they asked Jill all the questions which she couldn't answer. You know, if you actually talk to Mr. Rossi, you might actually hear his ideas, but instead, you choose to "report" what he didn't say and his complaints about the current gov. Funny, I heard him the other day on KVI (Schramm / Carlson) and he had lots of his own ideas, I guess the guy at the Olympian isn't high on Rossi's list of "must attend interviews", of course, who knows how hard he tried. Love the quotation marks around "he was tied up", as if that isn't a reality, what a joke this one is.

There must be something to that "tax break" Chris just gave.

I think most of us agree that the best kind of leader is someone who criticizes what you're doing without providing an alternative solution. Many of us have or know one or more supervisors at the workplace who take this approach. They are an inspiration and a joy to work with.

Oneside, face it, your boy Dino sticks his head out of his bunker blathers for 30 seconds and then hides from the press.
After all, follow up questions are no fun at all when you have no answers.
