Broadband service is no longer a luxury. It has become a basic part of the infrastructure of education and democracy.
That is what the New York Times said in an editorial about the need for cities to provide WiFi. The edit can be found here.The Times is right. Cities need to find a way to push broadband as far and deep as possible. Large swaths of cities will be left out of the daily civic discussion that has quickly migrated to the Internet.
