The Washington Post has an excellent profile of Ben Scott, policy director for Free Press. The story, which can be found here, gives a nice glimpse into the workings of Free Press and Scott's effort to push the organization to prominence.
The fact that the Post would profile Scott and Free Press demonstrates how quickly it has grown from an obscure group fighting media consolidation to a national power on media issues.
Another barometer of Free Press's growth will be the up coming media reform conference. Free Press is holding it June 6-8 in Minneapolis. I attended the last conference in Memphis about a year and a half ago. I was impressed by the huge turn out. People came from all over the country. This year should generate a lot of interest with the presidential election and everything that has been going on at the FCC.
