Democracy and Russia

Posted by Ryan Blethen

Here is a link to a short piece about Russian democracy by Spencer P. Boyer and James D. Lamond at The Root.

Boyer, director of the International Law and Diplomacy at the Center for American Progress, and Lamond, a researcher at the think tank, paint a bleak picture for democracy in Russia. They also take issue with claims that many aspects of life in Russia has improved under the rule of Vladimir Putin.

"Putin's iron grip has not only been undemocratic, it's also been inefficient. During Putin term in office, terrorist attacks and murders have gone up, life expectancy has gone done, corruption has increased, and public health has worsened."
