Man rams Seattle police bicycle with car
Posted by John de Leon
A 28-year-old man was arrested early this morning after he drove his car into a police officer's bicycle and forced another officer to jump from his bike to avoid being struck.
At 1:45 a.m., West Precinct bicycle officers attempted to contact a driver who was revving his engine in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 block of Western Avenue. As one officer approached, the man took off in his vehicle at a high rate of speed, knocking over a police bicycle and causing the second officer to jump from his bicycle.
Officers pursued the suspect to the SoDo area, where, after a brief foot chase, arrested the man. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of attempted vehicular assault and eluding.
