Terrell Owens: Would you take him?

Dallas wide receiver Terrell Owens is both loved and hated by football fans. Sure he has skills, but his off-the-field antics often steal the spotlight.

Would you take T.O. on your team despite all the baggage?

Definetely not! He creates too much negative attention for a team that has to mentally prepare for a game week in and week out. Also, he is selfish and can create tension on and off the field for the offense.

It could be a real disaster. I think Jeremy Stevens would resent T.O. coming in and probably replacing him as "the team's No. 1 loudmouth Jackass who can catch passes but also drops way too many." The team doesn't need any more chaos.

NO WAY! The man is a walking soap opera. Just when you think the media and hype surrounding him finally dies down for a week or two, he pulls some antic out of his bag of tricks. He's a mental distraction for his coaches and teammates who have to deal with fielding questions about T.O. every week. He's been a cancer of every team he's been a part of. Here in Seattle, Darrell Jackson made a statement "I want DB money" referring to the contract Deion Branch recieved when he was traded from New England. His comments were not well recieved from fans. There is no way Seattle fans would tolerate T.O.

Yes T.O. he is one of the greats who else can play with so much controversy? But if he wanted to come play for Seattle Answer is an emphatic hell no. If I were GM and needed a leader the answer would be no. Yet he is a great player

T.O. represents everything that is wrong with professional sports. He uses his team to provide a stage for himself and his antics. Any team with him at WR will always have problems.
No thanks.

T. O. is the the most physical creature in the NFL and is not, nor can be, used to his full potential by existing personel. As he is aware of this and is irrational, he is always discontented. Bill Purcell is aware of this and cannot be drawn into the resulting drama.

I saw him in S.F. and he was great, making a playoff winning catch from Steve Young on the last play to beat G.B. He is a tremendous athlete.
People who act as he does have a problem in self assessment and esteem. If you are really good at something, you know that and Don't need anyone's compliment to make you feel better. I think that he does not understand himself. He will probably find himself with no where to go very soon, even though he could obviously play for several more years.
I do not think that any team will pick him up.

I definitely would.
There would be some limits on his behavior.
He would have to undergo psychoanalysis, to see just what his problems are. His problem could probably be helped by therapy and drug treatment.
I would also restrict his exposure to the media. The media is to blame for much of his troubles. Take away the media, and there are no stories in print, and on T.V..
T.O. is not a bad person, and is one hell of a football player.
