Seahawks | What's the key to the game?Comments: 9 The Seahawks will have the home-field advantage in Saturday, but it will take more than that to beat the Cowboys. What do you think is the key to a Seahawks win? Controlling T.O.? Shaun Alexander's rushing abilities? Matt Hasselbeck's arm? Tell us what you think. Selected comments I'll be there doing my part as #12. We're gonna shock that Romo into a shivering state of perma-fear. He's a rookie QB so there is the thought that the Hawks might back off and keep everything in front of them, see if he can sustain a 12-15 play drive. But I hope they come after him and knock his head off. The game will be won in the trenches. The big uglies gotta come to play on both sides of the ball. Pressure on the QB and stopping the run is our only hope. Our Corners are in such bad shape it is ridiculous. We sucked at that position before the injuries, and now we're relying on guys who weren't even in the league last week - and they WILL be on the field Saturday...scary. Despite this, I bet our corners are still better than the Dallas secondary ? they're god awful! heh. Defensive keys: Pressure the QB and stuff the run. D-line has to step up huge, pressure on the QB and stuffing the run is the only way to keep them from picking us apart. If Romo can't pass, our secondary wont hurt us. Offensive keys: O-Line: We had the best line in football last year, and started the same 5 guys every game. This year we haven't had the same 5 in ANY consecutive games. In my opinion, that has been the single biggest problem with the team this year. If the offensive line protects Hasselbeck, and opens holes for Alexander - we'll score 35+pts. Playing smart - 3 things: Turnovers/Penalties/Drops. If we avoid any major issues in those 3 areas, and the O-Line blows them up, we will move the ball like we did all year last year and smother this team of prima-donnas back to Texas. Go Hawks! Posted by theron at 04:27 PM, Jan 04, 2007 Stop Ware from pressuring the QB no matter where he lines up, do not give up the big pass and or running play especially one every quarter, J Stevens needs to have a good game to keep Dallas defense off balance, Alexander needs 100 plus yards and 3 TD's Posted by Jimri from Dallas at 06:21 PM, Jan 04, 2007 I really think if the defense holds its own, and the offense doesn't make too many mistakes, that special teams is a key factor in this game. With Nate Burleson being such a key return man, he needs to be on his game again this week in giving the Seahawks good starting field position for this Jekyll and Hide offense. More than anything, Josh Brown has to be ready, set and go this weekend. Its unfortunate, he will not be representing the Seahawks in the Pro Bowl because he has had a very consistent season and has made up for his mistakes with bigtime kicks and bigtime game-winning kicks. With that aside, he has the chance to be the most impactful player on the field this weekend. If it comes down to him in the final play, based on this season's outcomes, we will be heading to the divisional round next weekend. Hopefully! Posted by Vin Narayan at 11:24 PM, Jan 04, 2007 Not turning the ball over and when Matt throws it to you. You must hang on, it'll be wet and windy and you must hang on to the ball. 12th Man MUST scream their vocal cords out.Don't rely on noise from others around you, and don't think "I'll save it for the second half"...you gotta YELL all game long, and make sure you do it as they go IN the huddle, not outta the huddle. Rocky and Chuck and Bryce and Grant have to crush Romo. Absolutely bring the pain. Make him wish he never came up here. No stupid 15 yard penalties for anything. No "blocks in the backs." Watch yourself and don't get false starts. Nate having some good punt returns. Holmy don't be so damn obvious on every play. If I know what is coming next then so do the cowboys okay...? Posted by terry g at 05:20 AM, Jan 05, 2007 Matt's clock management and team time of possession are key to the game. If we keep their offense off the field and keep the ball in his hands, we will have nothing to worry about. Posted by Rustin Lusk at 08:05 AM, Jan 05, 2007 On offense: If the line can protect Matt and if Stevens and Branch can hold on to his passes, I think we have a chance. Also Alexander needs to run more north and south instead of east and west. Posted by Ron at 08:16 AM, Jan 05, 2007 Seattle needs to be able to sustain long scoring drives. The Sehawks need to limit the Cowboys opportunity to pick our secondary apart. Most of all, we need to play a hard nosed, physical knock the snot out of them football game. Seattle can't wait to until the 4th quarter to start playing physical football. The 12th man needs to bring our "A" lungs as well. Posted by Tony at 10:47 AM, Jan 05, 2007 The key is long sustained offensive drives to wear down Dallas' beleaguered defense and to keep our beginner corners off the field and under less pressure. Posted by Terry at 03:46 PM, Jan 05, 2007 Control the ball with long sustained clock killing marches. Score at least 4 TD's. Don't let Owens or Glenn get loose deep and no Turnovers. Stay close enough so that Brown can win it. Posted by David C. at 05:13 PM, Jan 05, 2007 |
