Tougo Coffee burgled in Central District

Posted by Melissa Allison

phpThumb[1].jpgCrooks got $98 from the cash register of Tougo Coffee in the Central District last night, not a big payoff for risking a jail sentence.

The only damage was to the front door (pictured at right in a photo by JPak), and it's the first time Tougo has been broken into since it opened two years ago, owner Brian Wells said in a phone interview from his new Tougo shop on Westlake Ave.

Wells posted a picture of the damage at Central District News, and he recommended people get alarm systems.

"I think the entire community should be aware that as we are more in more in a depressed state economically we are going to more likely than not see an increase in crime in our community," he wrote.
