Big Fish Games announces Europe HQ in Ireland

Posted by Brier Dudley

Seattle casual game giant Big Fish Games today announced a new European headquarters facility in Cork, Ireland, that will create up to 100 jobs.

Big Fish's overseas plans were disclosed in September, after the company opened a smaller office in Vancouver, B.C., and received $83 million in funding.

The company now employs about 360 people, mostly in Seattle. Headcount in Seattle won't be affected by the expansion in Europe, said a spokeswoman, who noted that the company's now hiring in both Seattle and Vancouver.

The Cork center will focus on support, localization and testing and be led by former 02 Ireland CTO Oliver Coughlan, a Cork native.

Big Fish CEO Jeremy Lewis said in a release that Cork was chosen in part because it had multilingual workers the company needs.

"Greater than 50 percent of our customers are outside of the United States and speak languages other than English," he said in the release. "Our European Headquarters will further enhance our focus and commitment to providing unparallel(ed) service to our rapidly growing base of customers in these regions."
