Xbox Live creator's new gig: stealthy Seattle startup

Cam Ferroni, a founding member of the Xbox team and creator of Xbox Live at Microsoft, is cooking up a new business.
Ferroni is trying to stay under the radar until details are announced later this year, but here's a preview: He's hiring people to build a service using Web 2.0/social media tools to provide assistance during emergencies and disasters.
"We think we're going to change how people communicate in times of disasters or weather emergencies,'' he said.
It's an interesting space and one that his former employer has explored in various ways.
Maybe Ferroni's startup could hook up with PIER Systems, a Bellingham company that provides Web-based crisis communications tools to clients such as the Red Cross and Coast Guard.
In 2005 Ferroni left Microsoft and became chief technology officer at Web marketing company Marchex until late last year.
