Windows 7 tryout: tips and tricks
Posted by Brier Dudley
Some tips and tricks for installing the Windows 7 beta:
-- Lifehacker's hit blog entry with step-by-step instructions to partition and setup an XP or Vista system so it can dual-boot Windows 7. Microsoft's M3 Sweatt suggests one additional step.
-- Gizmodo today offered its step-by-step Windows 7 setup guide. After highlighting the cool Media Center improvements, it noted Neowin's earlier warning that the beta can mess with MP3 files.
-- There are also tips and suggestions on the official Windows 7 team blog introducing the beta. It also cautions that although the software is pretty far along, it's still a beta product intended for enthusiasts, who should backup their data first and remember that the beta expires in August.
-- For a deeper dive before downloading the beta, check out the 175 entries IT pros have posted so far in the "Windows 7 Installation, Setup and Deployment" section of the Windows 7 Beta forum at Microsoft's TechNet.
