Amazon announces AWS content delivery, with year's best PR quote
Posted by Brier Dudley
From Amazon.com's press release announcing CloudFront, a content delivery service joining the menu of Amazon Web Services:
"I deeply resent every second of my life I waste by thinking about image hosting. All I ask is that our images be served with low latency and high reliability and without a lot of hassle for me to deal with. Thanks to Amazon CloudFront, I need never again lose another moment to this insufferably tedious aspect of my job. I can feel the rage melting away," said Luke Duff, retail IT director at Woot, which is using CloudFront to deliver product photos to its online shoppers.
The price of Duff's tranquility: 17 cents per gigabyte transferred for up to 10 terabytes in the U.S. and Europe, 22 cents per gig in Hong Kong and Japan, with lower pricing tiers for higher volumes.
