Microsoft's opportunity as market falls?

Today's column looks at Microsoft's latest search announcement and questions whether it and the market downturn could help Microsoft improve its regulatory situation in Europe.
If Microsoft could stay on regulators' good side, it would be a great time to resume shopping for Internet companies.
Just think, if Microsoft hadn't done all those stock buybacks, it would have enough cash on hand to buy Google at today's valuation of $113 billion. Or Intel at $92 billion.
