Tesla Motors coming to Seattle, tech crowd's ready
Posted by Brier Dudley
Today's column on Tesla Motors had more news than pontificating: The company is expanding to Seattle, where it plans to open a service and sales facility early next year.
Expect to hear a bunch more about Tesla locally this week -- the company's doing a media blitz on Friday, as part of its first road-trip to Seattle to visit with buyers and scout showroom locations.
Unfortunately there are no public events (although perhaps enthusiasts have friends at Microsoft who could bring them to a demonstration scheduled for its Redmond campus?).
Lots of great feedback on the story so far, including comments from several readers wondering just how many green points the Tesla deserves.
One had concerns about the supply and disposal of lithium batteries.
Another was a little irked by the description of Tesla's cars as "zero emission" since they use electricity that may come from coal-fired power plants. Maybe Tesla drivers around here can find plugs that draw hydropower, if they don't feel too guilty about the dams' effect on salmon habitat.
