Seattle photo editing startup Picnik may have a mixed relationship with Photobucket, but it's still trying to catch the waves created by Photobucket's announcement that it's offering an API to Web developers.
Denver-based Photobucket, a photo storage and sharing site owned by News Corp., has about 40 million users.
Picnik is reaching out to those users with a new Photobucket tab added to its browser-based photo editing software announced today.
But it may have to change its name to get better play on Photobucket's gallery of applications -- it's alphabetical, so the first listing is Picnik's chief competitor, Adobe's Photoshop Express.
Perhaps it's time to ditch the family truckster and get the ride you've always wanted.

Gadgets and games | Fun stuff I've written about lately includes Apple's iPhone, Hewlett-Packard's HDX laptop and Microsoft's Halo3. Also on the radar are new digital video boxes such as the Tivo HD and the Vudu.
