BuddyTV tunes in $6 million from Madrona
Posted by Brier Dudley
BuddyTV founders Andy Liu and David Niu will invest their series B funding in people and technology to continue the growth of their online TV community site.
BuddyTV is a
Seattle-based news and social network for fans, who use the site to keep up with and discuss shows and actors.
The funding follows about $3 million that BuddyTV raised in 2007 from Gemstar-TV Guide.
As part of the new round announced today, Madrona Venture Group is adding some oversight. Patner Geoff Entress is joining BuddyTV's board, and Greg Gottesman, the firm's managing director, will be a board observer, according to the release.
Liu and Niu previously started Netconversions, a site optimization company sold to aQuantive in 2004.
