Seattle fiber broadband plans resurfacing Wednesday
Posted by Brier Dudley
Expect an update on Seattle's broadband plans Wednesday.
Bill Schrier, the city's CTO, is expected to brief the City Council's Energy and Technology Committee on plans to issue a request for proposals to build a fiber-to-the-home broadband network in the city.
Hopefully, he'll have specific dates for the RFP. Then we'll have to see if and when broadband providers are willing to do the project.
I wonder if the committee will also recognize Schrier making Government Technology magazine's "top 25" list of people who "help set the standard for using technology to improve government."
Also on the list: Attorney General Rob McKenna; Andy Hill, information services director for the AG's office and, of course, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
