Intel's Tukwila processor, code-named "Southcenter"

A local reader shared her mirth over this story about Intel's upcoming quad-core processors being code-named "Tukwila."
There's a bit more to the story.
As reported by Internet.com, the Tukwila processor coming at the end of this year will be the first to include more than 2 billion transistors. It's hard to visualize, unless you've seen all the shoppers packed into Tukwila during the holiday shopping season.
Maybe that's why Intel switched the name to Tukwila, after its first choice ran into trademark problems. According to a Los Angeles Times story on code names in 2004, the processor was originally called Tanglewood, but the Boston Symphony Orchestra has a trademark on that name and objected.
Tukwila, by the way, is a native code-word for "land where the hazelnuts grow."
