Media firm IGN's game analysis service, GamerMetrics, announced its "Early 2008 Preview" report today.
Highlights include the hedged prediction that Sony "could be on the verge of its long-awaited comeback." IGN says Sony ...
"is finally starting to turn things around thanks to the strong performance of "Metal Gear Solid 4," "Killzone 2," "Devil May Cry 4" and "LittleBigPlanet." The combined interest in upcoming PlayStation 3 software pulled the PS3 even with the Xbox 360, which suggests that Sony could be on the verge of its long awaited comeback."
(I thought it was the price cut)
IGN also pointed out that the Wii game lineup "still lacks depth":
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl," "Mario Kart Wii," and "Wii Fit" have propelled Nintendo to the top of the publisher charts, however, overall interest in upcoming Wii software still lags behind the competition. The outlook for third-party Wii software is particularly disappointing; Ubisoft's "No More Heroes" and Capcom's "Okami" are the only two third-party Wii titles ranked in the top 50 most anticipated titles.
It also said Microsoft's upcoming "Lost Odyssey" "is the only brand-new intellectual property ranked in the top 20 most anticipated titles." Others on the list are established franchises.
Also quiet is the lineup of new games for Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP, the report said.
But really, spring's coming. It's almost time to start playing outside.
