Confessions of an "Idol" addict

It's corny, it's predictable, it's often ear-piercing, but many of us can't get enough of it. Yup, it's "American Idol." Season 8 of America's most-watched TV show is under way. Check this space for news, video clips and take-no-prisoners critiques. And your commentary is vital too!

"American Idol" Top 36, Group 1: Country time for Brent Keith

Posted by Bob Payne

Brent Keith sang "Hicktown" by by Jason Aldean.

There was a nice little goof in his pre-song introduction, when the tape wasn't ready. Awkward!

Seemed like he was mailing it in -- not much spark. I've seen truck-stop karaoke singers with more enthusiasm. I think it's going to be tough sailing for Brent.

Here's what the judges said:
Randy: "I liked you, man."
Kara: "I think you have more in you than that. This song wasn't rangy enough."
Paula: "I definitely can see you as a country artist."
Simon: "Youve got a nice voice, but it was forgettable." To which Brent replies: "Personally I don't think country fans will forget that."

What did you think?
