"American Idol" Top 36, Group 1: Alexis Grace digs deep

Posted by Bob Payne

Alexis Grace sang Aretha Franklin's "Never Loved A Man."

She's got soul, although I thought she slurred the words a bit. As the song went on, she added more oomph to the vocals. And she looked great.

Here's what the judges said:
Randy: "I'm living you right now!"
Kara: "The genie is out of the bottle. It's been a pleasure to watch you come out of your shell."
Paula: [Much incoherent rambling]
Simon: "You are the best contestant so far. You may be a little dark horse in this competition." Then he compared her to Kelly Clarkson at this early stage.

What did you think?
