Confessions of an "Idol" addict
It's corny, it's predictable, it's often ear-piercing, but many of us can't get enough of it. Yup, it's "American Idol." Season 8 of America's most-watched TV show is under way. Check this space for news, video clips and take-no-prisoners critiques. And your commentary is vital too!

Jorge Nuñez
Age: 20 | Hometown: Carolina, Puerto Rico | Job: Student
At his initial audition in Puerto Rico, the judges asked Jorge to sing a second song in English after he sang his first in Spanish. Judge folks: they speak SPANISH in Puerto Rico, FYI. Anyway, Jorge definitely has the suave Latin vibe going on. He's in his fourth year at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. He also speaks French.

Lil Rounds
Age: 24 | Hometown: Memphis, Tenn. | Job: Customer service representative
Lil wow the judges at her first audition and has been on a roll ever since. Most pundits are putting her in the Top 4. She's married and has two girls and one boy. Last year she was forced to live in a motel after a tornado destroyed her family's apartment. Randy Jackson likened her to Mary J. Blige, which is a pretty nice compliment.

Michael Sarver
Age: 27 | Hometown: Jasper, Texas | Job: Oil rig roughneck
He's a big burly guy with a really sweet voice. He's married and has two children - a girl, Makenna and a boy, Grayson. A fan site says he leads the worship and praise team at Harvest church in Jasper and was once a lead singer at Victory Christian Center in Houston. There's been some confusion over whether he's definitely in Tuesday's Group One, because of changes showing up and then disappearing on the "Idol" Web site. It's tough luck if he is in the first group because two of the other male heavyweights -- Anoop Desai and Danny Gokey -- are also in that group.
