Confessions of an "Idol" addict
It's corny, it's predictable, it's often ear-piercing, but many of us can't get enough of it. Yup, it's "American Idol." Season 8 of America's most-watched TV show is under way. Check this space for news, video clips and take-no-prisoners critiques. And your commentary is vital too!

"American Idol" and the Grammys

OK, Bob is back in the saddle but he failed to dis the 'AI' peeps at the Grammys. So, I see a hole and I'm going to fill it.
- Carrie Underwood wins the 'Hot, Hot, Hot' award. Her red carpet dress shimmered and shined. She looked buff and on top of her game. Not sure what she was wearing during her performance (a pant suit with some kind of veil?) but it sure was easier to look at then whatever M.I.A. was wearing. (Girl, get some support!)
- Paula Adul had the shimmering going on (the shoulder ornamentation plays chimes). Yellow is a hard color to pull off, but she looked good in it. But, was she half asleep or just stoned when she was talking to Ryan Seacrest?
- Jennifer Hudson wins all kinds of props just for showing up and facing the public. Her performance was truly moving. Certainly the black sequined number was much more flattering than her red carpet outfit. My son asked if she had taken the while linens off the table from dinner and attached them to the top of her dress. Even she admitted she couldn't drop her chin for fear of eating the -- what would you call that -- collar? Must have looked better in person since she made Entertainment Weekly's best dressed list.
- Jordin Sparks is a breath of fresh air. Shame she picked such a frumpy black and gray dress. Girl, you are way too young to be looking like that.
- Fantasia also stopped by to talked to Seacrest. All I can remember is her hair was longer (than usual) and black. Boring for Fantasia.
Maybe the guys could show up next year!
