Confessions of an "Idol" addict
It's corny, it's predictable, it's often ear-piercing, but many of us can't get enough of it. Yup, it's "American Idol." Season 8 of America's most-watched TV show is under way. Check this space for news, video clips and take-no-prisoners critiques. And your commentary is vital too!

Idol news roundup for Monday, Jan. 26
Posted by Bob Payne
It's a pretty slow day in Idol-land, unless you're a big fan of either of last year's top Davids — Cook and Archuleta. The hard-core fans of both are frantically making travel plans as a string of concert dates for both were released in the last few days. And as I noted before, neither of them are coming within 500 miles of Seattle.
To get the info on David Cook's tour, go here. For David Archuleta's, go here.
• Reminder: We've got three nights of "Idol" this week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, all one-hour shows beginning at 8 p.m. The shows feature the last three audition cities: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Salt Lake City; and Jacksonville, Fla. Next week it's off to Hollywood. And for the first time, the Hollywood round will take two weeks and a Top 36 will be chosen instead of a Top 24.
• Correction: I mentioned an item from another Web site that said Lacey Brown of Seattle had made it to the Hollywood round. A reader has alerted me that in fact, the Lacey Brown who made it through at the Louisville auditions actually lives in Amarillo, Texas. Here's a story about her.
