Idol news roundup for Monday, Dec. 22

Posted by Bob Payne

Oh sure, everybody's busy with holiday stuff and this inconvenient little storm here in Washington. But don't let that be your excuse for not keeping up on Idol buzz! The new season's so close you can almost taste it. Eww... .

Anyway, on with the roundup:

  • Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks celebrates her 19th birthday today. Happy Birthday, Jordin! According to this story, she was performing in Perth, Australia this past weekend.
  • Rockin' the rocks: Idol judge Paula Abdul has reportedly unveiled a new line of jewelry on the Home Shopping Network called Forever Your Girl. Uh ... huh. With her career in music about over and her days as a judge on Idol possibly numbered, here's hoping Paula soon finds a way to stay "relevant," as Simon would say.
  • The "American Idols Live" tour finished the year at No. 24 on Billboard's Top 25 tours of 2008. No. 1 was Bon Jovi. The Idols tour grossed $29.9 million, with a total attendance of 493,296. That's more than double the numbers for 2006's tour: $12.1 million and 200,047.
