As I write, it's 7 a.m. and the clouds look like they're settling in for the duration (no, wait! now I see some blue sky! -- oops, it's gone), but you never know around here: it might be sunbathe-sunny by noon. Anyhoo, your pals at McCormick & Schmick's Harborside on Lake Union have taken a gander at the weird weather and figured it was time to promo some deckside action come rain or come shine. So they want me to let you know they're throwing a Happy Hour patio party Thursday, June 5. Here's their deal:
You show up between 4 and 6 p.m. with your umbrella for drinks and pupus (HH appetizer-prices from $1.95-$4.95), and they'll provide live "island-style" music and (here's the promo) give you a $25 gift certificate for your next visit to the restaurant -- so long as you're toting along your bumbershoot. Note: you may also tote along your children, who are permitted on the patio (presumably for a Shirley Temple) so long as they use the patio entrance.
So, is it just me, or does anyone else have warm summer memories of hanging out on that patio, long before it became a Mick & Schmick's? My memories involve RUI's Triples, circa 1988-89-ish, and involve some kind of Asian-inspired appetizer, a Magtag blue cheese salad with shrimp, a margarita and some very gabby gal-pal sessions with my best friend Abbie. You?
